ITV WEATHERMAN SEARCHES FOR SOUTH YORKSHIRES CLEAN AIR CHAMPIONS!
April 2009

ITV's Calendar weatherman, Jon Mitchell, is calling for South Yorkshire's clean air champions to put forward nominations for the 2009 Care4Air Awards. The innovative awards scheme from Care4Air, South Yorkshire's air quality campaign, recognises individuals and organisations who have made a significant contribution to improving air quality in the region.
Awards will be given for individuals, community groups, schools and businesses, as well as an overall winners award for 'Outstanding Contribution to Improving Air Quality'. Jon Mitchell will be making a special guest appearance to compere the prestigious awards ceremony on 11th June and present the awards to the winners.
Jon Mitchell said: “We want to hear from anyone who is doing that little bit extra to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality. A school may have a great walking bus, a successful recycling scheme or fitted energy saving automated lighting. Community groups might have put on a sustainable local event or set up a cycling scheme.
“A local business might have put up a wind turbine, invested in greener vehicles in their fleet or be working hard to reduce emissions. Or maybe there are individuals who have ditched their car and are walking to work everyday to help reduce their carbon footprint. There are lots of different ways that people in South Yorkshire are contributing towards cleaner air in the city and we want to give them the recognition they deserve!”
There is just one month until voting closes on 11th May. If you think you are an air quality champion, or you know of an organisation or an individual who is going above and beyond to improve air quality in the region, you can nominate them for a Care4Air Award by filling in the online nomination form.
